TEEYAN 2009 - Giddha Rules

  

1. Teams must have a minimum of ten to a maximum of sixteen female participants including dancers, singers and an accompanist×.

  

2. The minimum age required to participate in this competition is twelve years.

  

3. Allowed time for each performance is eight to ten minutes. A team that goes over or under by more than 60 seconds it will loose 3 points. Performing team will be given two minutes prior to the start of their performance to be ready and one minute to leave the stage at the end of their performance. A team that failed to abide by this rule can loose up to 2 points.

  

4. Live “boli” along with dholki, recorded “boliyaan” or CDs carry same points no bonus points will be given for either of these.

  

5. Each team is required to provide two copies of their recorded music in CD form (WAV), at least one week prior to the competition (if it’s recorded).

  

6. On the day of the competition, each participant MUST be present an hour and half (90 mins) before the start of the competition and should be fully dressed. Any delay by a team will result in loosing points.

  

7. Rankings of the teams will be determined by their traditional costumes, formations, expressions, synchronisation, rhythm and traditional moves. It is up to the teams how they present Giddah accordingly. Organisers will not instruct any team on this matter.

  

8. Glitter, confetti, or any other items that will require clean up are strictly prohibited. Any team using any of these may be disqualified and heavy point deductions will be made.

  

9. Each team MUST submit a prop request as soon as possible to ensure the prop may be used during the show. There is no guarantee that your prop will be permitted on stage, so you MUST get prior approval. No sharp pointy or other hazardous props may be used.

  

10. Unauthorised video and audio recording devices are not permitted within the premises without prior consent.

  

11. Judges decision will be the final decision and no team will be allowed to question that.

  

12. If at anytime during the competition, be it before, during, or immediately after the show, a team member violates any rules, that team will be asked to leave immediately, regardless of whether they have performed. The team will not be permitted to participate in the event from that point onwards.

  

13. Each team member should have read these rules and Organsers will need the signed copy by one of the team members (on behalf of the team).

  

14. Competing teams are not allowed to invite TEEYAN 2009 organisers to any practice sessions.

  

15. Teeyan Society & IWCAA reserves the right to add new and updated rules and regulations regarding the Giddah Competition.
